Format The exam will consist of a set of multiple choice questions covering all the major topics of the course. The duration is 2 hours, with a half hour extension granted if warranted. Each question will be assigned a number of points. The total number of points summed over all questions will be 100. A correct answer will entitle the student to the corresponding number of points toward the exam grade. An incorrect answer will lead to a subtraction of 1 point from the total. Not answering a question results in 0 points. Any material presented either during lectures or during drill sessions may be a part of the exam. Material not discussed during lectures or drills will not appear in the exam. Note that the above refers to topics only, answers to specific questions will not necessarily be discussed in class: students are expected to be able to apply their knowledge and understanding of the basic principles during the exam to choose the correct answers.
Grades The exam grade will constitute the bulk of the final grade. The actual weight of the exam grade will depend on the weights assigned to the homework and the project. Those, in turn, will depend on the difficulty of the assignments, and remain to be determined. The final weights will be updated in these pages once they are determined. Note that a passing grade in each of the three graded components - the exam, the project, and the homework - separately is necessary to pass the course.
Dates, Times, Locations There will be two dates for the exam, Moed A and Moed B. Moed C will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances, and the decision to grant it lies with the Department of Computer Science. Moed A: to be determined. Moed B: to be determined.
