ParC was first developed by Yosi Ben-Asher and then used for the Makbilan project under the supervision of Larry Rudolph in the Hebrew University around 1987-1990. The Makbilan project included 16 X 386-CPUs+local memories capable of simulating shard memory in hardware. Early versions of the simulator were written by Yosi Ben-Asher, Marcelo Bilezker, and later by Gady Haber. An improved run-time environment for ParC on the Makbilan was implemented by Dror Feitelson, Moshe Ben Ezra, and Lior Picherski. The Makbilan research group included: Larry Rudolph, Martin Land, Yosi Ben-Asher, Dror Fietelson, Dror Zernik, Moshe Ben Ezra, Lior Picherski, Dany Cohen, Sharon Broude and others. ParC was also used in the Millipede system of Assaf Shuster at the Technion.
